Needlebed 03:26
between the trees, hands and feet join the parade little one, hear the story of, bring it back again we're all going to see the queen with a carrot pipe and a bag of sacred wild weeds oh forest what is my oldest debt? held me so completely til I feel through a hole in the needlebed spare me a need so great for what can never fill the space spare me a need so great for what can never fill the space spare me a need she left in the common place with common thoughts, no visionary poetry drain the swamp, neighbours take leftover stones fully loaded, just the right explosion oh forest what is my oldest debt? held me so completely til I feel through a hole in the needlebed spare me a need so great for what can never fill the space spare me a need so great for what can never fill the space oh forest what is my oldest debt? held me so completely til I feel through a hole in the needlebed cut out by some grandfather's bet spare me a need so great for what can never fill the space spare me a need so great for what can never take its place spare me a need light of day, shining stream little one hear the story of, and bring it back again

we were a healer but we had done wrong the smallest spirits couldn't bring us along to the high country where they meet the sun there's an old feeling, it comes back, it comes on the evening of ice on the ponds the badlands weeping for a little more love I am not saying that I am alone it's just that sometimes, can't pick up the phone and tell the ones I love that I will be home now in this clearing, I'll ask of you friend headlights make circles, can we pretend you'll hold me forever, at least til the end we were a healer but we had done wrong

about

these are two last-winter songs. one from runaway visions in a very cold cabin, the other caught in a late-night living room voice memo.

we recorded them between Lake Echo and Kurtis's home studio in Dartmouth, NS in August/ September. here they are now in January, for what remains of this winter.

huge love and gratitude to Kurtis and Rachel K, rare kinds of collaborators and friends.

<3 Jenny
